Crypto Prices May Be Down, But Coinbase Is Still Creating Jobs

Without a doubt, the crypto market is one of the most liquid that we’ve seen. Within hours, the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies went up and down. Even though crypto prices may be down, it does not mean that blockchain development is stopping anytime soon.

Coinbase opens up a new office in Portland, but why should I care?

Coinbase announced today, June 28, that they are opening a new office on the west coast of the United States in Portland, Oregon.

According to a statement on the Coinbase blog, the exchange had considered different cities before deciding on Portland for its “incredibly talented, innovative open-source and blockchain communities.”

So, it goes back to the question of why should you care? Because this means that Coinbase is creating more jobs for the economy.

From the blog post, Coinbase mentioned that they will add up to 100 new jobs to the Portland economy this year, with possibly more to come as the company grows.

What else is Coinbase up to?

Earlier this month, Coinbase announced that it will expand into Japanese markets. The exchange says that it will apply for a license with the country’s financial regulator, the Financial Services Agency (FSA), “within one year.”

This does not necessarily mean that they will be creating more jobs overseas, but it’s a sign that they might be recruiting new talents for their new office from their hometown.
