There’s been back to back good news and updates released by Coinbase today for the crypto community. Earlier today, Coinbase announced that they will be supporting Bitcoin (BTC) for their Bitcoin Universal Wallet. Now, the company also announced that they want to pay you to learn more about Brave.
As of now, Coinbase has officially added the token behind Brave browser (BAT) to its Earn platform, the second token listed to its education service.
Coinbase Earn is the evolution of Earn.com, a product that aims to pay consumers small amounts of cryptocurrencies in exchange for learning about an asset’s utility and underlying technology. Acquired for more than $100 million, Coinbase is hoping the new product becomes an important function within the crypto ecosystem as a trusted educational resource for consumers looking to learn more about developments and applications in the space.
Coinbase is offering up to $10 worth of BAT for watching 3 short videos (3-4 minutes), and downloading the Brave browser. Users looking to receive the BAT will need to receive an Earn invite or join the waitlist for future opportunities.
BAT is up ~6% in the past hour on the news, guess news does play an important role in price movement.
More on Earn.com
Coinbase acquired Earn.com for at about $100m back in April. And the company now plans to transform Earn.com into Coinbase Earn, a website with educational content to learn more about cryptocurrencies. Users who complete those classes will earn tokens as a reward for learning crypto.
According to Coinbase, on Coinbase Earn users can “learn about an asset’s utility and its underlying technology” and earn “a bit” of the asset for free.
Earn.com started as a service where you can contact busy people for a small fee. Busy people would get paid in cryptocurrencies to accept those requests. Even though Earn.com was able to gain a lot of traction in its early days due to the ICOs and crypto craze, the steam died down and became more a marketing platform.
Based on their site, Coinbase Earn is launching today in private beta. Some Coinbase users will receive an invitation to the service. The company says that educational content will go beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Developing education pages for obscure cryptocurrencies makes sense as Coinbase plans to add dozens of cryptocurrencies over the coming months.
Right now, you can learn 0x and Brave within their platform for free and earn free crypto along the way.
